Yakitori : The art of Chicken

Now, if you have never been to Japan, you could never have tried a REAL yakitori. You might have tried the yakitori in some japanese restaurants, but they are far away from what a Yakitori-ya (Yakitori-Shop) can offer you!

Besides the Jar of Sauce on the left, which is unique and most of the time missing from the restaurants in europe, here is the yakitori Menu:

...is not for the faint heart. This is an Hardcore menu (at least for Europeans). The menu, besides the usual Chicken Breast and Legs, offers: Heart and Skin.

Now, for your benefit, i've tried them:

Chicken Earths. One Dish, 4 chickens gone... i felt a little guilty... Well, the taste a little chewy but if you can get over the fact that they are hearts, not too bad...but one time will be enough for me..

Chicken Skin... I'm not a Chicken skin lover, but i've tried it as the menu picture was inviting... well, kind of really fatty... this one, too, i guess will not be in my menu too often...

But the real thing, is the beer, since one could actually get quite thirsty on yakitory, some cold beer could help...

As a side dish: Grilled rice ball...

Yakitori, besides in specific restaurants and Japanese style Bar, can be sometimes purchased on the street as well, especially during fairs or Festivals.
