In Japan, kids going to school, need to wear an uniform. There is some flexibility on the choice of shoes, as sometimes i saw that they wear something different.Reading some time ago, the points in favour of Uniform at schools, is that kids are not competing for brand clothes. They...just wear all the same.
The bad news (for the kids)...is that kids skipping school are caught quite quickly, as policemen would inquiry in case they see kids in uniform, wandering around during school time... ;)
