I heard the news about the earthquake in Italy, they said over 300 deaths. Is always sad to hear about such things. In japan, in 1985, there was what is called "The Great Hanshin Heartquake". I took the image above at the memorial in Kobe. 10 minutes walk from motomatchi Station. What you see, is what was left (on purpose) to help remember that day.
More than 6'000 people lost their lives. The highway you see on the background was rebuilt. If you check on the internet, you will see that elevated highways fell down and many buildings collapsed, as in the next picture.

The one that hit kobe in 1985, was of magnitude of 7.2 for 20 seconds.
That's why, with the school rules, we received a paper explaining how to prepare for the next earthquake or typhoon; as Japan earthquakes and typhoons are very common they have specific guidelines on how to deal in such event...
I sometimes worry about it, because in japan, is not matter "IF" there will be an earthquake, but it's a matter of "WHEN" it will happen...
